ABOUT ME

I left France at the age of 18 and made Canada my new home.  It has been almost 20 years since I made the move.  I met my husband there and started my new life.  I love Canada for its landscapes, seasons and off course the animals.

I am amazed to see the diversity and the richness of its fauna where you can find in abundance beavers, racoons, elks and moose.  The shy and mystical wolf fascinates me, the piercing look of the lynx or cougar is enough to make me dream.  The strength of the polar bear is enough to make me tremble.  I admire the agility of the fox when catching a squirrel and the majesty of the buck which lives me speechless.  I wouldn’t be able to close this long list without mentioning the imposing buffalo, symbol of Manitoba my province.

Graphite or coloured pencils, eraser and paper are the only tools of my trade.  My technique consists simply of reproducing in a way that is of the outmost loyal and authentic what nature has to offer me.  It’s a tedious and extremely detailed work: I can say that each hair or feather is in its place.  Those types of compositions can be counted in weeks and sometimes months to demonstrate the real value of this technique.  I apply myself to convey in my art the personality and soul of the animal through its eyes.
I love the media of graphite and coloured pencil because of its simplicity, beauty and nobility.  I find it sad that less artwork is being done in this media since when well mastered it shows the reality of the subject in its entirety.
